Keeping Your Paperwork Safe and Ready

December 5, 2014 by homesteaddreamer

Paperwork. There is no way to get away from it. Even after death there is paperwork! A necessary evil in today’s world, our documentation for everything from identity, to property ownership proof, to insurance and medical records can get overwhelming! Common sense dictates that we have all of our important documents organized and in a safe place. The reality is that people are usually so busy, those documents get tossed into a shoe box and added to until you need a bigger box.

There are many ways you can make the management of your documents and back ups of those important bits of information so that you can more easily recover and establish yourself after a disaster. The most common disasters are nature-made that may cause damage to your important paperwork, not to mention your home. Have you considered the need to take hard copies with you should you need to get out of dodge? Consider the following options and reasons they may be good for your situation

  • Scanning and saving files to a thumb drive (jump drive)
  • Scanning and saving files to a backup server or Cloud.
  • Making copies of your documents and putting them into a safe-deposit box
  • Making copies and keeping them at a friend or family member’s house
  • Having copies in your bug out bag, vehicle bag, and bug out location (if lucky enough to have one)
  • Having copies in paper and digital formats in a fire-resistant safe
  • GO LIGHTER~ Have paper and digital formats in a Prescott Fire Resistant Bag! SEE BELOW FOR A CHANCE TO WIN ONE!!

Save yourself heartache and frustration! Make sure you have copies of your important paperwork safe and in more than one place!
